Hope for a new treatment. Hope for a cure. Hope for your family, your friends, and yourself. That's what has led thousands of riders like you to raise millions of dollars for research and patient care at Roswell Park Cancer Institute since The Ride started in 1996. It's Western New York's "most moving" fundraising event.
About The 2012 Ride
As it has since the beginning, The Ride will start and finish on the North Campus of the University at Buffalo in Amherst, NY. It takes place against the sparkling blue backdrop of 60-acre Lake LaSalle and the white marble columns of the Greek-style amphitheater at UB's Baird Point. It's a beautiful spot for a bike ride and party.
Prepare To Be Moved!
Depending on which distance you choose, you'll leave UB between 6:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. and return between mid-morning and mid-afternoon. With routes ranging from 3 miles to 100 miles, cyclists of all abilities and with all kinds of bikes can do The Ride. We're proud to count many cancer survivors and patients in our rider ranks. One of The Ride's great traditions is the moment at the start of each route when cancer survivors are asked to raise their hands and be recognized. Prepare to be moved by the power of The Ride!
Not riding? Fundraise as a "Virtual Rider"!
Cyclists may also register and fundraise as virtual riders. Many volunteers, patients, and survivors have found fundraising for The Ride a highly satisfying way to be involved even if they're not riding.
