The first-ever Ride Opening Ceremony on Friday, June 22 will celebrate the collective spirit of Roswell Park Cancer Institute and The Ride in a way Western New York has never seen but will long remember!
More than 10,000 members of The Ride, Roswell Park, and survivor communities are expected to come together in the stands of the UB football stadium to hear inspirational speakers including former Buffalo Bills linebacker Chris Spielman, and watch special video tributes, the arrival of the 200-strong Extra Mile Club Peloton after its 12-mile processional ride from Roswell Park Cancer Institute, and a live performance by a Grammy-award winning rock vocalist Rick Springfield ("Jessie's Girl") and his band. Why an Opening Ceremony?
It’s a way to recognize that cancer is claiming lives every day – and that Roswell Park is making a difference in the fight. But we can’t do it alone! We want The Ride, Roswell Park, and Western New York communities to see the importance of their support on a literally larger stage at UB.
And so we’re inviting survivors, riders, volunteers, physicians, nurses, researchers, administrators, friends, and family members to a world-class party, rally, and concert that will kick off a Ride For Roswell weekend to remember. Join us!
